Michael, a conservatoire-trained musician with a diverse portfolio career, brings a wealth of real‑world experience to his role as a mentor with The Space Between. His performance work has taken him from cruise ships to highly successful function bands, and along with his session gigs to involvement with the Dordogne Jazz Summer School. He understands what it means to navigate life as a working musician.

Alongside his performing career, he has spent over a decade in education—progressing from classroom teacher to Director of Music—where he guided musicians and young learners from as early as Reception to adult learners. He holds a Master’s Degree from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, where his research focused on music improvisation within teaching.

Michael offers support for emerging musicians in navigating the realities of a portfolio career: balancing gigs, teaching, sessions, and creative projects. He also helps artists broaden their horizons within the music sector, identifying new pathways, building professional resilience, and cultivating the mindset needed for long-term artistic success.
