Laura Murphy
Laura is an HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist and sleep specialist with over 15 years experience working in mental health and sleep in the UK. Through The Space Between and in her private practice, she offers personalised therapy and coaching to busy, sleep-deprived adults, helping them rebuild a healthier, more sustainable relationship with sleep.
Her own experience of difficulties sleeping, alongside supporting people through NHS mental health services, showed her just how much good quality sleep underpins everything; mood, resilience, focus and the ability to keep showing up for the things that matter. Her therapeutic approach is grounded in evidence-based methods, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), while staying firmly in touch with the demands of real life.
As a previous shift worker, Laura is passionate about supporting people whose schedules don't align with their sleep physiology. Irregular hours, late nights, and lingering adrenaline all take a toll on sleep, often in ways that go unnoticed or unaddressed until they've built up over many years. Rather than treating disrupted sleep as something to simply push through, she helps people understand what's really going on, identify their own unique needs, and make simple, realistic shifts that let them feel like themselves again.
Protecting your sleep is one of the most overlooked forms of protecting your craft, career and the sustainable and fulfilling life you’re building around it.
