Emily Roach
Introduction: Emily is a London based, person-centred and approachable HCPC Certified Creative Arts Psychotherapist, specialising in Drama and Movement Therapy after graduating from The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama with a merit in her MA training. In addition, she is a performer and has trained in drama and theatre, specialising in musical theatre studies.
Emily’s Approach: Her creative therapeutic methods offer clients a different perspective through which they can look inwards, and an alternative method to express and release. Therapy sessions with Emily may use storytelling, writing, art making, movement and metaphor which can allow individuals to approach things from a distance - Emily is then there to provide guidance and support as emotions are eventually met face to face in one’s healing journey.
Emily’s Experience: From working in psychiatric wards in the NHS, dementia assessment wards as well as visiting schools and completing sustained therapeutic work with children, Emily also practices privately in London. Recently creating ‘A Creative Kind of Therapy’ she offers creative psychotherapy sessions online and in person in both singular and group format. Her experience working with young minds, older people, those with Autism and ADHD as well as individuals with PLMD, depression, anxiety, bi-polar, schizophrenia and other mental health diagnosis, Emily has explored and witnessed the transformative power that creativity and the arts has. She believes wholeheartedly that creative therapeutic methods can allow a client’s sense of self to be seen, felt and expressed, evidencing the truth that within everyone there is always a person with a story to tell.
